Dat Album Dropped Doe....

Holy guacamole Batman! October has been one giant scoop of delicious dip for Burris! WE RELEASED AN ALBUM! The party at Spanish Moon was exhilarating and we couldn't be happier about it. There were so many wonderful faces there to support us and it fills our hearts with joy! Recording an album isn't easy - any artist can tell you that. It takes months of recording and editing, plenty of planning ahead to set up graphic design, production companies, reviews and more. But alas! Meant To Be is here! This Friday, October 23rd, our album will be available on iTunes, Spotify and more, so be sure to check it out if you haven't! Here are some pictures from our show and tasty press quotes of the band and the album.

“The band knocked out most of the recordings during a weekend at the studio. A month of editing as well as some overdubbing followed. Burris strives to give its recordings immediacy.”

"[...] members of Burris all have higher than average instrumental proficiency […] Burris wants to bring listeners along for the musical adventure."

-The Advocate, Baton Rouge

“Burris wanted to emphasize its on-stage sound on the new release, recording each song live at Evangeline Studios. The result is a more authentic sound […] capturing harmonies between violin and saxophone and blending guitar riffs with a bluesy voice.”

-225 Magazine, Baton Rouge

You can listen to the album here, or check it out on Bandcamp and all the other online streaming/downloading sites later this week! GET PUMPED!

AAANNNNNDDDD WERE DONE!

Well we're back in the good old Baton Rouge! I know it's been some time since the last update, but c'mon... we needed time to rest! Hell, Anton has been sleeping since we got home last week... sort of strange now that I think about it... maybe we should check on him!

Our last show at Huey's in Memphis was a great one! There were copious amounts of friends and family out, and we got to play all of our favorite tunes! Then we spent the night at Bob's Aunt and Uncle's beautiful house. Frank and Diana served us up pizza, tea, coffee, eggs, bacon, and biscuits. 'Twas a feast for for kings! Driving home was smooth sailing... and a bit of a blur, so the following few days were all about sleep and regaining strength. I think I had a few nightmares about this picture of Anton.

Saturday we played a fantastic welcome home show at the Roux House in down town Baton Rouge with Grace Albritton from Nashville, TN. It was definitely a show we will never forget, thanks to all the hometown friends that came out to support!

Now it's time to gear up for our CD release! Keep checking in with the Burris Blog to get some sneak peaks at album art, mastered tracks and merchandise sales! Thanks a million to everyone that contributed to our Kickstarter, and helped us along the way on tour! We cant show our gratitude enough! Even a million thank yous is too few!

You stay classy San Diego!
Love,
Burris

Wrappin' It Up

Gooooooooooddddd morning Vietnammmm!!!
We're bringing this tour to a close and we're still smiling bright! Currently the van (also known as the Iron Sausage) is headed towards Memphis for some sweet BBQ and a little bit of crunchy tunage!
Last night we laid it down in Asheville with our good friend John Trufant! The bar was full of character and the city full of pizazz. We love Asheville and can't wait to return.

Thursday night, we arrived in Nashville to meet our good friends Dynamo! What a treat it was to see them. We can't thank them enough for their hospitality!

Friday, we got to spend some well deserved time in the city grazing and gazing, and then we played at a sweet venue called The Cave with the award winning Larry Mitchell Band.

Tour has been very good to us. We can't stress enough how important this experience has been for the band. We're eternally grateful to those that have donated and helped us out along the way. Here's to broadening our Burris horizons! Next time we post, we'll be on our way home to Red Stick. So long mountains, hello swamps!

A Quick Little Entry

Hey everyone. Here's a quick update! Last time we talked you saw us in Philly, after a nice stay at Chris's aunts, we headed out to DC. We arrived in the city and played a killer show at Union Arts with the JoGo Project. Our record still stands - so far we have seen a friendly Baton Rougian in every city we've been too. Not all of them true Baton Rouge natives, but at least temporary dwellers of the city! It's amazing how far the LSU/Baton Rouge population extends. We can't express how much it means to us to see familiar, loving faces in the crowd time after time.

Once we finished our show, we headed into Mt. Airy to stay with Chris's other aunt, Carol! We stayed in the beautiful home of Ken, Mary and Carol Hochkeppel and took full advantage of comfy seating arrangements.

Now we're in the van once again heading out to Nashville! Things get weird in the van sometimes.... Vision gets blurry and faces meld together!

We just had a tasty dinner in Bristol, TN and are now headed west. Can't wait to see the great Music City!

Willy Nilly in Philly

Philly was so awesome! It was a long, long drive but we arrived around 6; just in time to grab some cheesesteaks from Pats!

With greasy fingers and full stomachs, we headed over to the venue to set up! The crowd was great. Kevin brought out tons of friends, and the supporting music was fantastic! Everyone check out Liz de Lise and Dry Reef from Philly! And once again, we saw more familiar Baton Rouge faces. Thanks to Paul Giess for sitting in with us!

Also we had a super cool bartender/sound girl/manager/everything else. She did it all folks. Three cheers for Jade the Connies Ric Rac Room bartender! 🎉💥🎊 After a great show we grabbed more cheesesteaks and headed over to Independence Hall for some 2 am sight seeing! It was Bens idea. His exact words were "Let's do it in honor of Ben Franklin!"

We slept wonderfully at Chris's aunts house, and even taught a few bass lessons to the youngsters!

Philly was definitely one for the books! Now off to D.C. We're exstatic to share our music with the nations capital! Maybe we'll do some 2 am monument visits again! Tune in tomorrow to find out. Here are links to the killer Philly bands we played with!
Sincerely yours,
Burris

Love All Around

We've really been feeling the love lately. Two days ago we started to head north! First we stopped in Clayton to eat like kings at Bella's Steaks Pastas and Pizzas. We made friends with some great, hardworking people and ate and drank till our bellies were full!

Then we arrived in Asheville for a wonderful stay in a beautiful city! Huge thanks to Candace Long for housing us in her beautiful mountain home. After a night of slumber, we headed to the city for a nice outing. We ate, we drank, we talked and walked and everything was merry!

One of the most important things we did in Asheville was purchase a slew of all powerful Bodhi shirts! These things are the bees knees. You all should go to your nearest Indian based retail store and purchase a shirt or two. You won't regret it. Here's a picture of us all feeling the strength of the all mighty Bodhi shirt!

We continued the night with a free spirited show in Brevard, fully clothed in our Bodhi garments! 185 King Street and  John Trufant treated us so well! We made some great new friends and even saw more Baton Rougians way up in the mountains! Now we're headed off to the city of brotherly love! Philadelphia here we come!

P.S. Bodhi power!!!

Feeling Independent!

We had a very interesting Independence Day. It began with a nice morning in New Orleans that quickly turned sour when we found that someone changed the locks to Scotts practice space! But we didn't let the man drag us down, so we hopped into the van and headed towards Orange Beach. The plan was to get there early and set up a nice practice under a pavilion, but instead we found the beach...

30 seconds after this was taken, we ended up in the water. After we got our fill of the ocean it was time to head to the venue... One problem - how do we dry our clothes? - Strap them to the van!

We then headed to the venue, with a quick stop to visit some fruity relatives.

The show went great! We saw some home town fans and made some new ones as well. One new fan really liked us... I mean REEAALLLLYYY liked us. As in she was super drunk and stood in front the whole time screaming. She even stole Matt's tambourine, made her boyfriend tip us, and danced for 12 songs. It was just great. We even got her number.... Which we gave to random drunk guy later in the night.

All in all, the day was amazing. Thanks Alabama for a strangely fun time. We are so thrilled to be heading towards Brevard now to play with our good friend John Trufant Monday night. Then we're in Philly followed by D.C. We're in the thick of it now! Keep checking back for more updates. Here's our fresh tour poster.

Spread the word and spread the love!
